Valentine wedding for Carlo & Meg

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo -
New MTB starts on Feb. 23
The moment of truth about MTB will happen next Monday, Feb. 23, when the new set of hosts will be launched. As I’ve been saying, heads will roll, relentlessly, and the rule of the game is – matira ang matibay?

I won’t preempt ABS-CBN, so all I could, well, hint at at this time is that two main hosts might have to go and only very few of the rest might be retained. But there will be a new host, definitely, and since Arnell Ignacio has "bolted" GMA and has been welcomed in grand style by ABS-CBN – to the tune of P1 million a month, a staggering sum that made Arnell junk his plan of running for councilor in Quezon City, you would, too, wouldn’t you? – everybody is making a sure guess that Arnell will join MTB (which might undergo a drastic change of title, too) as the partner of his bosom buddy Ai-Ai delas Alas.

That much I can tell you right now. For the real score, don’t forget to tune in to (the former?) MTB Monday, Feb. 23, and find out who are the "casualties" and who are those happily retained.

Happy viewing!

"Billy" has found his "Gracia" and they’ve vowed to love and to hold, for better or for worse, till death do them part.

"Billy" is, of course, Carlo Muñoz who starred in that popular PLDT commercial and "Gracia" is his girlfriend Meg Reyes whom he married in civil rites last Saturday, Valentine’s Day, in California, capping a one-year-and-a-half romance that started on the set of the ABS-CBN show Wansapanataym in 2002.

A member of Star Circle Batch 7, Carlo began acting in ABS-CBN drama shows (Maalaala Mo Kaya, etc.) before he branched out to movies (Ano Ba ang L8est?, Love Text, etc.) before he got his big break in the Regal Films’ 2001 Metro Filmfest entry Yamashita: The Tiger’s Treasure for which he won as Best Supporting Actor.

Meg (real name: Enid Bianca Pearl Reyes) started as a commercial model. She has guested in several ABS-CBN drama shows and played one of Aga Muhlach’s girlfriends in Star Cinema’s Kung Ikaw Na Lang Sana.

The couple met at the right time and at the right place. Carlo didn’t have a girlfriend (his first showbiz girlfriend was Carol Banawa who is also in the States) and Meg was free as well. They hit it off well from the very start.

When Carlo’s father, Louie Muñoz, died in March last year of heart attack, Meg was beside Carlo all the time, from the ICU of the Medical City where they rushed Louie after they watched a movie and had dinner at Megamall to the wake to the funeral to this very day. At that time, the Muñoz matriarch, Patricia Garcia-Muñoz, was in Bakersfield, California (where she’s head of a school for special children) and so were Carlo’s kuya Leandro and his girlfriend Michelle who was visiting their mom.

The civil rites were simple and quiet, with only Mom Pat, kuya Leandro and Michelle, the youngest Muñoz child Angelo (based in Bakersfield with Pat) and a few close friends in attendance. Carlo and Meg, together with Leandro and Michelle, are on vacation in California.

Because the wedding happened "suddenly," people might be wondering: Is Meg pregnant?

"No, she’s not," assured Carlo.

The newlyweds plan to get married in church maybe before end of the year, presumably also in California.
Finally, Tonton And Glydel
After hemming and hawing, dilly-dallying and, ehem, all that jazz, Tonton Gutierrez and Glydel Mercado are finally getting married on March 15 (Monday) at the Santuario de San Antonio, Forbes Park, Makati City (reception will follow at the Mandarin Ballroom of the Mandarin Oriental Manila).

Eduardo Antonio "Tonton" Gutierrez is the son of Eduardo "Eddie" Gutierez and Elizabeth "Liza Lorena" Luciano Winsett. Flordeliza "Glydel Mercado" Sanchez is the daughter of lawyer Francisco Sanchez and Lucila Sanchez.
