CVFA grabs PFF U19 Visayas crown

CEBU, Philippines —  The Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) booters rained goals in the first half to trounce the visiting Kaya FC-Iloilo, 3-1, and clinch the Visayas leg title of the 2022 Philippine Football Federation (PFF) Under 19 Boys National Championships last Wednesday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

Keenan Julian Cerguex sparked CVFA’s hot charge with just seven minutes gone by in the match.

Yoji Eliott Selma followed suit at the 43rd and two minutes later, Paul Joshua Mapula found the back of the net to vault CVFA to a commanding 3-0 lead at halftime.

It was cruise control for the wards of coach Glenn Ramos from thereon.

Kaya FC’s only consolation was Julian Romero’s goal at the 62nd minute that negated a shutout by CVFA. 

For topping the five-day tilt with a perfect 3- record, CVFA earned the right to bring the banner of Team Visayas in the National Finals later this year in Mindanao with no confirmed venue.

In the battle for third place, the Negros Oriental-Siquijor Regional Football Association (NOSIRFA) scored a 3-0 whitewash of East Visayas FA.

Christian Anthony Lajot (65th), Earl Anthony Bandoquillo (83rd) and Rafael Wandeler (88th) delivered the goods delivered the goods for NOSIRFA. — EBV
