DMY Events, MEQ Builders trounce rivals

CEBU, Philippines —  The DMY Events and MEQ Builders whipped their respective rivals in Hoop Nation’s Arlon Cup Season 1 over the weekend at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Brant Borces erupted for 31 points on top of 10 rebounds and four assists as DMY Events downed the PJL Hoopers, 79-70, to firm up its grip of solo third place in West Division with a 6-1 win-loss mark.

Pancho Ada dished out a solid double-double show of 23 points and 10 rebounds but to no avail as PJL Hoopers crashed to their sixth straight loss.

On the other hand, Christian Guinita scattered 24 points, six rebounds and three assists as the MEQ Builders routed 5 Joints, 72-56, for its sixth victory in nine starts.

Jherjacz Jaca dropped 18 points and 14 rebounds but his efforts went for naught at 5 Joints fell to 3-4.

In the other games, Kenny Genobia collected 18 points, six rebounds and three assists as the Prayboys escaped past the Gonzalodo Enterprises, 74-72, while John Michael Balingit and William Balagtas fired 22 points each to help the Cougars pull  a 61-59 squeaker over the Trojans Warriors.

The Prayboys now hold a 6-3 slate while the Cougars chalked up their only second win in eight games.
