CEBU, Philippines — The Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) booters outlasted the Don Bosco Boys Home (DBBH) of Liloan, 2-0, in an all-Bosconian championship showdown to rule the Palarong Pambansa Football Bubble at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

Interestingly, DBTCrelied on their second stringers in clinching title as six of their first 11 were sidelined in the sudden-death finale due to injury.

“Ang uban nakong mga sinalinagan na-injured, may gani ni-click ang among second stringers,” said DBTC coach Glenn Ramos.

Before the game, the DBTC players carried with them the team uniforms of their injured players as they dedicate their final battle to them.

After a scoreless first half, DBTC played more aggressively that eventually resulted to Joross Tabar breaking the ice of the match in the 41st minute.

Richard Songalia also stepped up big time to seal DBTC’s resounding triumph in the 55th minute.

For his consistent performance throughout the three-day tilt, Songalia was named as the Most Valuable Player.

It was a happy swansong for Songalia in the Palaro as he will be already in college next school year.

Songalia’s teammates shared the limelight with him as Gian Renzo Costado was hailed as the best striker, Natan Lingatong the best defender, and Ezralph Legara the best goalkeeper.  DBBH’s Vince Michael Sinoy stole part of the spotlight as the best midfielder.

In the battle for third place, the Abellana National School (ANS) slammed the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC), 3-0, via penalty shootout.

John Tajanlangit, John Largado, and Mathew Naces delivered the goods for ANS in the shootout.

Meanwhile, Central Visayas Regional Football Association (CVRFA) President Engr. Rodney Orale extended his profound gratitude to those who, in one way or another, have helped to the success of the tournament including Elan Vita Diagnostic Solutions, J.E. Abraham C. Lee Construction and Development Inc., Big Blue Logistics Corporation, Dakay Construction and Development, Dynamic Herb Sports, Inc. Nature’s Spring and Leylam.
