History beckons for ARQ Boxing today

CEBU, Philippines — History beckons for ARQ Boxing Promotions as the newest player in the Cebu fight scene stages its first ever event billed as “Engkwentro Uno” today behind closed doors at Gate 2 of Cosonsa Manufacturing Compound in Barangay Ibabao, Mandaue City.

“This is it! The moment we’ve long been waiting for has finally come. Our fighters are ready to rumble and prove their worth,” said ARQ Sports Director Chelito “Coach Carz” Caro.

The husband-wife tandem of Jason and Eva Mari Arquisola established the ARQ Boxing early this year to give hope and provide opportunities to poor but potential boxers at this time of pandemic.

All the eight pioneering fighters of ARQ Stable led by the unbeaten flyweight contender April Jay “Astroboy” Abne (5-0, 2KOs) will be seeing action in the eight-bout, two-part card.

Abne will trade blows with former Omega Gym fighter Royder Lloyd Borbon in the main attraction of the morning session that will start at 11 am.

 Abne’s brother Ian Abne, Berland Robles, and Zandro “Little Pacman” Librador are also in the lineup of combatants.

Ian Abne will go up against Marvin Campo of RWS Stable; Robles will slug it out with Kevin Smith Nemenzo of Lapu-Lapu City; while Librador will lock up horns with Rexcar Auxillo of Big Yellow Stable.

John Paul Gabunillas will headline the afternoon show that will commence at 2 pm. He will be joined by his stablemates Yerrodge Gura, Arniel Canete, and Rodex Piala.

Gabunillas will tackle Maurino Agum of Big Yellow Stable;Gura will test the mettle of Steven Noblefranca of Talisay City; Canete will mix it up with Christopher Caburog of Big Yellow Stable; while Piala will face off with Vicente Casado of Cebu City.
