NM Roque rules Gilbert Ababat Super Blitz 4

CEBU, Philippines —  Cebuano National Master Merben Roque lorded it over the Engr. Gilbert Ababat Super Blitz 4 spearheaded by the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) over the weekend.

Roque was actually tied with Sherwin Tiu of Manila who also finished with 13.0 points but took the first place honors courtesy of a higher tiebreaker.

Richard Natividad wound up third with 11.0 points followed by Allan Pason with 10.5 points.

Jerome Villanueva, Theseus Benitez, and NM Julius Sinangote of Manila posted 10.0 points each to round up the top seven finishers of the online tilt sponsored by US-based Cepcans Engr. Gilbert Anthony Ababat of Colton, California and Engr. Jojo Dondon of Allen, Texas

On the other hand, Cephas Seguisabal, Michael Joseph Pagaran, and Redentor Nailon were the top Cebuano placers.

Jasper Montejo and Antonio Cabibil emerged as the top Cepcans A, Leo Cortes and Reynaldo Flores were the top Cepcans B while Wena Escalicas came out as the best female performer. — EBV
