Laguna-native Medina rules Jojo Dondon Super Blitz 7

CEBU, Philippines —  Vince Angelo Medina of Cabuyao, Laguna came out as champion in the Engr. Jojo Dondon Super Blitz 7 organized by the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) over the weekend.

The 24-year old Medina, former champion in the Shell National Youth Active Chess, Palarong Pambansa, and ASEAN Age-Group, tallied the highest 13.5 points to dominate the weekly virtual tilt bankrolled by US-based Cepcan and US Candidate Master Engr. Jojo Dondon of Allen, Texas.

Sherwin Tiu of Manila placed second with 13.0 puntos followed by Cebuano International Master Barlo Nadera of Mandaue City with 12.0 points.

National Master Giovanni Mejia and Michael Joseph Pagaran settled for fourth and fifth with 11.0 and 10.5 puntos, respectively. Rounding up the top seven were Richard Natividad and Allan Pason witj 10.5 and 10.0 points.

On the other hand, NM Rommel Ganzon, Paul Joseph Dumadapat, and Jave Mareck Peteros were the top three Cebuano performers.

NM Rogelio Enriquez, Jr. and Amado Olea, Jr. were the top two for Cepcans A, and Leo Cortes

and Dr. Leo Lofranco for Cepcans B. Sheila Khan Sepanton was the best female finisher.

The other top winners were Archt. Filemon Kapuno III in CEPCA Weekend Online Chess,  NM Rommel Ganzon in Happy Fiesta Opon 2020, and Engr. Eladio Lim III in Prexy Jerry Sunday Blitz. — EBV
