Unbeaten ex-ALA standout KJ Cataraja joins Sanman stable
CEBU, Philippines — Undefeated super flyweight contender Kevin Jake "KJ" Cataraja has joined the band of former ALA Gym stars who hooked up with the General Santos City-based Sanman Promotions.
Sanman CEO Jim Claude "JC" Manangquil announced in a statement over the weekend that the Cebuano power-hitter has just signed a contract with his promotional company and ZIP Management.
"After the announced closure of the famed ALA Promotions, the undefeated prospect (Cataraja) decided it will be for his best interest to sign up with the GenSan-based promotional outfit," stated Manangquil.
"This is an exciting move for Sanman and ZIP. We are happy to welcome Cataraja into our stable. He has an impressive record and brags a very promising boxing career,” he added.
The 25-year-old Cataraja is the fourth displaced ALA fighter to join forces with Sansam stable after WBC No.1 minimumweight contender Melvin "Gringo" Jerusalem, WBO Oriental super bantamweight champion Jeo "Santino" Santisima, and flyweight prospect Esneth Domingo.
Cebu's fabled ALA Gym closed shop for good in a stunning move last August because of the global pandemic and the closure of its lingtime TV partner ABS-CBN.
Cataraja holds a perfect 11-0 record with 9KOs. He soundly beat Mexican Victor Hugo Reyes by unanimous decision to seize the WBO Youth super flyweight title on November 24, 2018 at the IEC Convention Center in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City. — EBV
