Paragua tops King Retanal bullet chessfest
CEBU, Philippines — Filipino Grandmaster Mark Paragua claimed another championship title via the King Nathaniel Aguilar Retanal Birthday Chess Bullet Online played on lichess.org late Wednesday night.
Paragua racked up 18.0 points to edge past International Master Egor Bogdanov of Ukraine and Mahdi Gholami Orimi of Iran and rule the virtual tournament spearheaded by Saudi Arabia-based Cebuano National Master Elwin Retanal.
Bogdanov placed second with 16.0 points while Orimi wound up third with 15.0 points.
Mark Jay Daños Bacojo tallied 14.5 points to settle for fourth. Ellan Asuela and Michael Jako Concio both scored 14.0 points to occupy the fifth and sixth spots.
FIDE Master AJ Literatus, NM Rommel Ganzon, Eric Labog, and Vince Omal Medina completed the top 10 performers.
Making it to the top 20 were Kyle Ochoa, Jonathan Tan, Karl Ochoa, Sherwin Tiu, Yves Christian Fiel, Rocky Pabalan, Robert H. Arellano, Ignat Bogdanov, and Dodoy Kriz Villareal. — EBV
