CEBU, Philippines —  After agreeing to contract extension with the NLEX Road Warriors last January, the ageless Asi Taulava was poised to become the only cager to play in four different decades in PBA history.

Taulava, the oldest active PBA player at 47 years old, needed just one game to achieve the feat.

But ‘The Rock’ has to wait a little longer as the suspended PBA Season 45 still hangs in the balance due to the Covid-19 crisis.

While the PBA is looking to continue regular office operations by late May or early June, the resumption of games remain uncertain as of the moment.

Considered as one of the league’s most dominant centers, Taulava started his pro career with the Mobiline Phone Pals in 1999 where he stayed for eight years.

The 6-foot-9 Fil-Tongan then suited up for the Coca-Cola Tigers (2007-2010) before hooking up with the Meralco Bolts (2010-2012). He was with Air21 Express now NLEX from 2013 up to the present.

Taulava’s most shining moment came in 2003 when he was honored as the Most valuable Player after powering the Talk ‘N Txt Phone Pals to the PBA All-Filipino Conference title. It was his first and only championship in the league.  EBV
