CEBU, Philippines — Everything is already in place for the third edition of ‘Cebu Vertical Run’ that will take place on January 25 at the Horizons 101 in General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City.

Unlike any other run, the participants will face a challenging task of climbing up to the 55th floor then going down. Beginners may opt to do the half challenge where they will climb up to the ninth floor.

Divisions include the elite male and female, open male and female and the relay.

“It’s a good way of letting the Cebuanos enjoy, while doing exercise. Instead of doing the usual fun run, we decided of doing it on the stairs. I think it’s also a great way for them to see the view of Cebu,” said Jason Gaisano of the Taft Properties during the press launching of the event at the Horizons 101 showroom.

Two-time Southeast Asian Games (SEAG) gold medalist in triathlon Nikko Huelgas and silver medalist in obstacle course racing Sherwin Managil in the last SEAG will lead the top contenders in the full challenge.

Cash prizes and medals await the top performers.

Organizers said that they are limiting up to 350 participants in the full challenge and 150 for the half category. Fifty pairs are also allowed to join the relay.

Registration fee is pegged at P1000 for the full challenge, P850 for the half climb and P1,800 for the replay inclusive of race bib, race shirt, finisher’s medal, drawstring bag and raffle ticket.

For those interested, one may register at the Horizons 101 showroom.
