9th All Women Ultra Marathon slated March 7
CEBU, Philippines — It’s all systems go for the ninth edition of the All Women Ultra Marathon happening on March 7 next year at the Il Curso grounds in South Road Properties.
The running event is the Cebuana runners’ unique way of celebrating the International Women’s Month.
With the date of the 50-kilometer run already announced, the organizers expect the participants to register early. Registration starts on November 15.
Dr. Humility Igaña, who is one of the organizers and also a seasoned runner, said that they are limiting the numbers of entries to 350 to ensure that everyone will be properly taken care of.
“We are after everyone’s safety especially since we are going to run at night and we are all female runners.We are not after quantity because this is not a business.This is just our way of celebrating the Women’s Month,” said Igaña in a press conference yesterday at the Cebu City Hall.
Cebu City Councilor Joel Garganera, for his part, also assured that marshalls, medical teams and police personnel will be deployed along the routes to secure security and safety of all participants.
Participants also need not to worry as hydration stations are spread in the entire route.
Top finishers will receive a trophy, while a special coronation will be done to the champion or the AWUM queen.
