Semifinal cast now complete in USC- NABC tilt

CEBU, Philippines — The semifinals cast is now complete in the University of San Carlos-North Alumni Basketball Conference (USC-NABC) Cebu City Mayor’s Cup 2019 at the USC-North Campus gym.

In the senior division, the undefeated Siargao Wave Riders 1986 will go up against the 1985 Legends, while the 1990 Titans will lock up horns with the 1988 Barako in this weekend’s knockout semis.

The Legends advanced to the Final Four after booting out the 1987 Bros, 73-46, while the Titans stayed alive after eliminating the 1982 Golden Warriors, 75-65.

Lou Regidor showed the way for the Legends with 26 points, 19 rebounds, five blocks and three assists, while Hector Lawas paced the Titans with 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

The semifinal pairings in Division 1 pits the Ninety Niners against the 1996 Chubbies and the 1998 Sipat versus the 1997 Ronins.

The Chubbies stayed in title hunt after terminating the 1993 Dragons, 49-45, behind the 15-point, four-rebound show of Noah Espinoza, while Sipat made it to last round of four after slaying the 1995 Pirates, 74-69, thanks to Cromwell Po who piled up 19 points and seven rebounds.

Fighting it out in Division 2 are the 2003 Stallions against 2002B Goats and the 2001A Shipmen against the 2005 Chameleons, while battling for survival in Division 3 are the 2013 District opposite the 2008 Fly Boys and the 2011 Sharks against 2015 Samurais.

Joel Dinawanao fired 32 points, 13 rebounds and three assists as the Goats sent the 2000 Millennium Bugs packing, 90-83, Marck Campomanes scattered 16 points, nine rebounds and four assists as the Chameleons ousted the 2004 Rebels by their skin of their teeth, 76-75,  Miko Santos pumped in 23 points, seven assists, three steals and two rebounds as the Fly Boys kicked out the 2009 Legacy, 81-79, while Edmar Galado tossed in 30 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals as the  2015 Samurais axed the 2010 Pioneers, 89-78.
