SHS-Ateneo, USC dominate CESAFI swimming

CEBU, Philippines —  The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and University of San Carlos tankers topped their respective divisions in the 19th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) swimming competition at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.

SHS-AdC clinched its fifth straight overall secondary division title, while USC ruled the collegiate battle.

SHS-AdC collected a total of 22 gold, 19 silver and five bronze medals, while USC harvested 24 golds, 20 silvers and eight bronzes.

The gold medalists for SHS-Ateneo were Andrian Daniel Ramirez via the 100m backstroke, Joshua Mikhail Tebusa in the 50m freestyle. SHS-Ateneo boys team also won the 4X50m medley relay gold.

Meanwhile, USC’s Kristin Austria broke the 100m breast stroke record of Lorhiz Echavez. She registered 1:26.87, .10 second faster than the old record.  Karen Mae Indaya also carved a new record in the 400m individual medley with a time of 6:10.06.

Indaya came out the most bemedalled in the tertiary girls with five golds.
