Talisay Hoopla: Cansojong, Tangke, Pooc make semis
CEBU, Philippines — Teams from Cansojong, Tangke and Pooc terminated their respective rivals to advance to the semifinals of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament the other night at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
In the seniors division, Marnie Ybanez dropped 24 points to lead five cagers in double figures as Cansojong wiped out San Roque, 101-57.
Jade Restauro added 17 markers, Christian Sayson scored 13 while Rodelio Abapo and Philip Geraldez had 10 points each for Cansojong, which battered the hapless San Roque quarter after quarter to come up with a merciless 44-point rout.
Cansojong was joined into the Final 4 by Tangke after it booted out Mohon via a 101-90 decision.
Lourben Manayon paced Tangke with 26 points followed by Dexter Costanilla with 16 markers. They were backed up by Darhly Fernandez, Romeo Abay and Paul Torrecampo who connived for 32 points.
Tangke also sent its team to the semis in the juniors division after ousting Lagtang, 77-69.
In the same category, Pooc made it to the last round of four after kicking out San Roque, 88-78.
Rubino Singson showed the way for Pooc with 21 points, while Anthony Alvarez and Hyancinth Balorio chipped in 17 and 13 markers, respectively. (FREEMAN)
