Tangke pounds Maghaway in Talisay hoopla
CEBU, Philippines — Dexter Costanilla dropped 23 points and Romeo Abad added 20 to power Tangke to a 101-85 romp of Maghaway in the seniors division of the 2019 Talisay City Mayor’s Cup Inter-Barangay Basketball Tournament at the Talisay City Sports Complex.
Paul Torrecampo chipped in 16 markers, while Lourben Manayon and Raffy Racaza conspired for 22 points underscoring Tangke’s balanced attack.
Tangke actually trailed by three points after the first period, 24-27, but staged a furious 29-15 counter-attack to seize full control of the match at the bend, 53-42.
Tangke then outplayed and outfoxed Maghaway in the final half to come up with a 16-point rout.
In the other seniors division match, Khim Caballero exploded for 29 points while Eduard Herbias, Juan Silva and Richard Herbias combined for 39 points as Manipis drubbed San Roque, 87-78.
Manipis trailed 41-43 at the half but launched a sizzling 24-13 rally in the third stanza to turn the tables on San Roque.
In the juniors division, Jose Algoso, Vincent Barliso and Ruel Barliso connived for 61 points as Lawaan 3 repulsed a scintillating 40-point show by Keaton Clyde Taburnal to down Mohon via a 91-89 thriller, while Junel Cabarubbias tallied 15 points and Alexis Deonoso and John Nepangue each scored 12 as Bulacao edged Lawaan 1, 82-79.
