Batang Pinoy TCC archer sizzle

PUERTO PRINCESA, PALAWAN — Cebuano marksman Aldrener Igot continued his gold medal haul to strengthen Team Cebu City’s hold of the lead in the PSC-Batang Pinoy National Championships yesterday at the Speaker Ramon Mitra Sports Complex, here.

Cebu City is at top spot with 18 gold, eight silver and four bronze medals. Pasig climbed to second with its 11-16-6 gold-silver-bronze medals, while Quezon City is currently at third with 11-10-5 medal tally.

Igot, a Grade 8 student of Don Carlos Gothong Memorial National High School, bagged two gold medals during the opening day last Monday but he once again showed his dominance after harvesting three more golds yesterday via the 40m, 50m and FITA event.

The arnisadors also delivered for Cebu City courtesy of Fhaline Caballero and Clifford Tonilon. Caballero and Tonilon reigned supreme in the 7-9 age group, while Crystall Jill Bowman ruled the 13-14 class as Albert Estrera topped the 10-12 action.

 TCC’s rugby football squad ended their bid with a silver and bronze. Their girls squad settled for silver after bowing to Davao City, while the boys team claimed the bronze after upending Naga City.

Over at the Palawan International Circuit, Ivan Delica made his father and former top Cebuano cyclist Jovan Delica proud after managing to take home a silver medal in the criterium race.

TCC’s karatekas handed  three silvers through the efforts of Gift Lloyd Canencia, Adrian Ray Ayuda, and the team of Marie  Pauleen Cabrera, Genda Atillo and Justin Azur plus a bronze from Gian Carlo Polestico, Johana Piquinto and in the kata boys’ team for 8-11 and 12-15 division.

Meanwhile, Cebu Province had three golds, five silvers and two bronzes. Nino Kime Avila, Janine Narboada were the gold medalists in kata while Justine Aloba handed a silver and Chloe Mendoza with a bronze in kumite.
