Joint June/July edition of CEPCA monthly on Sunday
CEBU, Philippines — The joint June/July edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) monthly tournament will be staged this Sunday at The Barracks Chess Club in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
Still, the 5-round Swiss system competition sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) will follow a handicapping format.
Class A players or those with NCFP rating of 2000 above will be given only three minutes per game, 10 minutes for Class B and 15 minutes for Class C participants.
The champion will pocket P1,500 while the second to fifth placers will receive P1,000, P700, P500 and P300, respectively.
Aside from the cash prize, the top two finishers will join Vince de la Torre, National Master Rogelio Enriquez, Amado Olea Rosendo Yamyamin and Reynaldo Flores to the grand finals also known as the “Battle of Champions” this December.
The monthly tilt though is exclusive only for the Cepcans, kids and lady players.
Entry fee is pegged at P100 for ladies and kiddies and P200 for Cepcans.— EBV
