Mirabueno scores twinkill in Cebu Women’s tennis tournament
CEBU, Philippines — Cheche Mirabueno of Lanao del Norte emerged as the biggest winner in the 1st Cebu Women’s Tennis Cup after clinching the double championship the other night at Villa Aurora Racquet Club in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.
Mirabueno lived up to expectations after dominating the 89-up and 90-up divisions. Categories are combined ages of the doubles partners involved.
The tandem of Mirabueno and Brasilia “Iyang” Uy of Isabela Province overpowered Cebu’s Josephine “Gaga” Butcon and Nikki Seno in the finals , 8-4, to rule the 80-above title.
Butcon tried to avenge her loss to Mirabueno via the 90-above division finals but the latter alongside with Davao’s Socorro “Amai” Trumpeta were able to outsmart Butcon and Contessa Copas, via tiebreak, 7-3.
Manila’s Michelle Mendoza and Ching Henson completes the cast of winners after outsmarting Davao’s Socorro “Amai” Trumpeta and Lourdes “Denden” Manulat,8-6. (FREEMAN)
