CEBU, Philippines — Football enthusiasts in this side of the archipelago will have something to look forward to as Dynamic Herb’s state-of-the-art sports facility featuring Cebu’s first world-class artificial football field of international standard nears its completion.

Ugur Tasci, owner and managing director of Dynamic Herb Sports Inc., gave some members of the media a brief tour on Saturday afternoon to witness first hand the multi-million stadium that is something the Cebuanos can truly be proud of once completed.

“I want to give what Cebu deserves and I want to give justice to what a football field should be,” said Tasci.

The construction of the huge project, which is being built in a 1.2 hectare property along the South Road Properties, is divided into two phases.

Phase 1 is the stadium while Phase 2 is the Dynamic Herb-Borromeo Sports Complex, an indoor arena which will house several sporting events like futsal, basketball, badminton, and volleyball, among others.

Project manager Engr. Narwyn Bayon said they have already accomplished 80 percent of the interior works for Phase 1 and a hundred percent complete for the football field.

The centerpiece of Phase 1 is the artificial football field complete with facilities such as comfort rooms, canteen, shower rooms, locker rooms and bleachers that can accommodate about 500 persons by proper seating.

Tasci said the project was a big challenge for him both in the construction and the financial side.

“This is my first project and I was thinking everything would be easy but I didn’t know that is is very complicated,” said Tasci. “Building the football turf took us a lot of big work. I thought it was easy but we realized it was very complicated to put it up, it was a big challenge.”

Tasci said they are eyeing to complete Phase 1 in the last quarter of the year. They will have a soft opening right after the construction is finished and possibly open it to teams and clubs who would like to do their practice.

“I don’t want to rush things but at least we are progressing week by week. I want that when people come here especially the kids everything is organized from the drop off to the parking. Basically I want the roads to be ready before we invite people to come.”

“If national teams want to stage a game here we can work it out. There are a lot of organizations already that are approaching me when will it be ready because they are also interested,” he added. “Though I cannot give everything yet, at least we can now give Cebu a place where we can host some tournaments.”

Aside from football, the stadium will also cater the sports rugby, american football, baseball, and frisbee.

The construction of Phase 2 will begin as soon as Phase 1 is already a hundred percent complete.

Tasci also expressed gratitude to the people who helped him launch this project.

“The Borromeo brothers, they are very much supportive and I really appreciate it. I was asking for their help also from the beginning of this project because the entire land is theirs.”

Meanwhile, Tasci is still looking for partners and sponsors who would like to invest for the project. The football stadium will be named after Dynamic Herb and its chosen partner. (FREEMAN)
