CEBU, Philippines — The Army Dragon Warriors flexed their athletic muscle as the dominate the final day of the inaugural Cebu City Dragon Boat Regatta yesterday at The Coast of IL Corso-Filinvest Lifemalls, Citi de Mare in South Road Properties.

The Manila-based Army Dragons scored a triple championship via the women's open, mixed and premier open in the 200m small boat competition.

The Army ladies delivered the first championship after registering the fastest time of 58. 01 seconds. They outpaced Kujaw Tiger Dragons of Cortes City, Surigao Del Sur (1:00.98) and Umagu of Dumaguete City (1:01.50), who placed second and third, respectively.

The Army paddlers then secured their second trophy in the mixed category with a time of 54. 60 seconds to defeat Black Manta Warriors of Lapu-Lapu City (55.07) and SJ Banatti of San Jose, Negros Oriental (55. 41).

The team capped off their impressive showing with a championship in the premier open with a time of 52.37 followed by Dumaguete Yellowfins and Braveheart of Cagayan de Oro City with their 53.23 and 54.09, respectively.

The two-day dragonboat event, sanctioned by the Philippine Dragon Boat Federation (PDBF), was participated by 800 paddlers from 22 teams nationwide have participated.

"We have many rooms for improvements. We have minor glitches, but it went smoothly. Overall, we are truly happy and elated with the success of this event. We will work hard to give a better and bigger dragonboat regatta in the next coming seasons," said race organizer John Paul Maunes, executive director of Philippine Accessible Disability Services, Inc.
