Rams, Panthers earn share of lead in Elite hoopla
CEBU, Philippines — The Rams and the Panthers posted contrasting wins to earn a share of lead in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu Season 14 powered by Tough Gear Sportswear at the Visayan Glass gym in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Careem Micarandayo dropped 20 points as the Rams escaped past the Hawks, 68-66, while Steven Sanchez scattered 21 points as the Panthers pounded the Lions, 66-47.
Thus, the Rams and Panthers joined the Cheetahs atop the leaderboard with identical 2-0 records.
Edward Saberon chipped in 11 markers for the Rams, who relied on a solid endgame show to turn the tables on the Hawks at the final buzzer.
Axel Rabaya and James Truz connived for 25 points but their efforts went for naught at the Hawks, like the Lions, crashed to their second straight loss.
On the other hand, Carl Valencia chipped in 13 markers and Neil Buot added 11 points for the Panthers.
In the other game, Jojie Bas and Chris Obeso had a combined total of 51 points to power the Tigers past the Sharks, 86-81. Joel Bensig was the other double-digit scorer for the Tigers with 15 points.
