Talisay goes for jugular in Legacy Cup finals

CEBU, Philippines — The undefeated Talisay City Aquastars are expected to go all-out for the title clincher but they must brace for the dogfight against the Carcar City Lechoneros who will host Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series in the Samsam Gullas Cup 3.0 Cebu 1st District Inter-Cities and Municipalities Basketball Tournament tonight at the Carcar City Sports Complex.

Game time is set at 8 pm, right after the knockout battle for third place between the dethroned champions Minglanilla Archangels and the San Fernando Spartans at 6 pm.

The Aquastars moved a win away from grabbing the coveted championship after obliterating the Lechoneros, 90-72, in the series opener last Tuesday night at their home turf.

Talisay controlled the match from start to finish in the wire-to-wire victory where it led by as much as 24 points.

This time, the Lechoneros hope not only to step up their games but also to draw extra strength from their fans as they try to stay alive and extend the battle into its full route.

Should there be Game 3, the series swings back to Talisay on February 9.

The champion will pocket P80,000, while the second to fourth placers will receive P60,000, P40,000 and P20,000, respectively. EBV
