Pableo Eskrima, Filmocan install GM status on Danny Huertas

CEBU, Philippines — The AFC (Amara Fighting Concept) World Pableo Eskrima of SGM Percival Pableo and the Filmocan San Miguel Eskrima of SGM Panto Cañete Flores have bestowed upon Norway-based Filipino martial artist Danilo 'Danny' Huertas the elite Grandmaster status in a simple but memorable ceremony over the weekend at the conference room of AA's Barbecue along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.

Aside from being elevated to the rank of GM, Huertas also received his certificate of appointment as the European Director for Filmocan San Miguel Eskrima.

"It is with great joy that we formally award to Danny Huertas this certificate for successfully completing the intensive training in AFC World Pableo Eskrima Evolution Martial Arts with proficiency and skill under all standards and guidelines set forth for the rank of Grandmaster," said SGM Val Pableo, who established Pableo Eskrima in 2015.

Aside from SGMs Pableo and Flores, the event was also graced by GMs Gerardo Rusiana, Bonn Misa, Jefferson Gonzalez, John Mac, Billy Cerdon and Fletcher Oinatil.

Huertas, for his part, said he is deeply honored to have been given such recognition.

"After 20 years of non-stop training and hard work, I am proud and honored to be given this recognition," said Huertas, who owns an eskrima school in Oslo. "It was never been an easy journey but it was exciting and meaningful that I received this award. It is the culmination of all my efforts and sacrifices. The fruit of my hard labor."

"It really inspires me to work even harder to further promote our indigenous Filipino martial art in Europe and in other parts of the world," added Huertas. (FREEMAN)
