CEBU, Philippines — Former Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) beach volleyball players confirmed their participation in the first Mayor’s Cup Sinulog Beach Volleyball Tournament on January 24 at the Fort San Pedro sand court in Plaza Independencia.

Tournament manager Jordan Paca of Cebu Spikers Volleyball Club said that commercial teams powered by former CESAFI varsities will see action in the event.

Among those who confirmed were Therese Ramas and Dyan Darantinao, who won the CESAFI title with Southwestern University-Phinma.

Paca added that they have limited the participation of current CESAFI squads for those top performers during the recent edition.

These are reigning women's champion University of Southern Philippines Foundation with their runners up University of San Jose-Recoletos  and Cebu Doctors University.

Vying for the title in  the men’s open are champion University of the Visayas , University of Southern Philippines Foundation , Cebu Institute of Technology-University and University of San Carlos.

"Currently, we are still waiting for others to confirm. There are only four slots left for each division to complete the final list of teams and we are encouraging all Cebuano volleyball enthusiasts to sign up and join," said Paca.

The four-day tournament is spearheaded by the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC).

The champions will receive P20,000, while the runners up will take home P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.
