CESAFI beach volley final games set today

CEBU, Philippines — The final battles of the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) beach volleyball tournament get underway today at the Forth San Pedro sand court in Plaza Independencia.

Defending girls champion University of San Jose Recoletos will defend their crown against University of Southern Philippines Foundation.

USJ-R belles secured their second trip to the finals with a 23-21, 21-16 victory over Southwestern University-Phinma yesterday, while USPF claimed a spot at the finals after beating University of Cebu, 21-9, 21-15, in the crossover semifinals.

The rivalry of the two teams continue in the women's division as USJ-R Lady Jaguars take on the Lady Panthers for the crown.

USJ-R pummeled Cebu Doctors University, 21-10, 21-14, in its final semis game, while USPF outlasted University of San Carlos, 21-23, 21-11, 15-10.

In the boys action, SWU-Phinma dispatched USJ-R, 21-18, 21-10, to advance into the finals, while defending champion USPF will return into the finals with a lopsided 21-11, 21-14 victory over USC.

Back-to-back men's champion University of the Visayas, for their part, annihilated the Cebu Institute of Technology-University, 21-7, 21-15 in the semis. Challenging UV for the crown is USC, who pounced UC, 21-15, 21-19.
