Man with P7.4M shabu falls
CEBU, Philippines — Authorities scored big time Saturday when it arrested a man with shabu worth P7.4 million during a buy bust operation at Crystal Compound in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Police also arrested the suspect’s girlfriend who allegedly tried to bribe them in exchange for her lover’s release.
The suspect was identified as Addreainne Lester Adlawan Mendez a.k.a Ter, 28, a resident of Guadalupe, while his girlfriend was identified as Fern Gila Serion, 24.
Police Chief Insp. John Kareen Escuber, chief of the Carbon Police, said Mendez is connected to a drug syndicate in Cebu and focused only on big transactions.
"Dinagko gyud ni iyaha. Ang pinakagamay nga mabaligya ani kay five grams unya ang dagko na gyud 50 grams ngadto sa usa ka kilo," Escuber said.
He said the operation against Mendez stemmed in part from information they gathered from other arrested drug suspects.
During the buy bust operation, authorities confiscated from Mendez 1.1 kilos of shabu worth P7,480,000.00.
At 2 a.m. on Sunday, several hours after the operation on Saturday night, Serion reportedly went to the police station and offered the police P50,000 in exchange for Mendez’ release. She ended up in jail herself. Mendez and Serion refused to issue a statement. (FREEMAN)
