Huelgas, Adorna rule Cebu leg of NAGT series
CEBU, Philippines — National team members Nikko Huelgas and Maria Claire Adorna dominated their respective divisions in the Cebu leg of the National Age-Group Triathlon (NAGT) Series yesterday at the city of Naga, Cebu.
The 27-year-old Huelgas topped the men’s standard elite class after finishing the grueling 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run in two hours, two minutes and four seconds. Kim Andrew Remolino of Talisay Luigi Triathlon Group settled for second with a time of 2:05:51 followed by Jorry Ycong of Rider Omega Tri Team with his 2:05:58, clocking.
Adorna, for her part, ruled the women’s elite in two hours, 29 minutes and 31 seconds.
Adorna’s closest pursuer was Rue Reinhardt Panibon of Organique Triathlon who registered a time of 2:35:38, while Cianyl Jamae Gonzalez of Rider Omega Tri Team landed at third in 2:40:09 clocking.
In the junior elite sprint action, national athlete and TLTG bet Renz Wynn Corbin and Karen Manayon of Rider Omega Tri Team topped their respective classes.
Corbin finished the race in 1:02:38 to claim the men’s junior title followed by Godwin Jacob Taylor of Caltex-Delo (1:03:15) and Charles Jeremiah Lipura (1:04:00) for the second and third place, respectively.
Manayon, the lone competitor in the female division, clocked in 1:09:24.
The standard age-group winners were Justice Sousa (18-24), Nicson Tongco (30-34), Ian Gerard Rusiana (35-39) , Mark Mulder (40-44), Clement Covacho (45-49) and Ruel Binolirao (50-above), Tifanny Blance Quijada (16-29), Grace Bascon (30-39) and Zusette Co (40-49). (FREEMAN)
