Glorietta Lariosa - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — In line with its 40th anniversary celebration, the Shakey's Group Cebu will be staging the "Shakey's Fast at 40 Fun Run" on December 9 starting and ending at Shakey's in SM City-Cebu.

The fun run features the 15K and 7K open, 3K family run and 100m kiddie dash.

"In the Shakey's Cebu fun run, we wanted to emphasize something that is fun and something that the family can do together, which is why we created a family category and also welcome kids in the kiddie dash to bring something that everyone can do on a Sunday morning together," said Shakey's Cebu Group managing director Allen Arvin Tan in a press conference yesterday at Shakey's Pizza Parlor along F. Cabahug Street in Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City.

"This is our way of giving back to Cebu on the support they have shown us over the years. We we want to engage our community and invite them to join and have fun and create more memories with us," added Tan.

The beneficiary of the event are the scholars of the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation, Inc.

The organizers are targeting around 1,000 participants to join the race.

Cash prizes will be given away to the top three finishers in the 15K and 7K categories. The 15K finishers will get a specially designed pizza-shaped medal, while the 7K finishers will receive a souvenir shirt.

All finishers will get a slice of pizza at the finish line. Exciting raffle prizes are also at stake including a one-year supply of Shakey's pizza.

Entry fee is pegged at P250 for the kiddie dash, P350 for the 3K, P550 for the 7K and P700 for the 15K.

One may register at any branches of Shakey's and at Anytime Fitness Gym in Ayala Center Cebu, Escario and Oakridge Pavillion. One may also register online at race.ph/shakeysrun.
