Manito starts strong in CitiGreen netfest

CEBU, Philippines — Gio John Manito started his campaign strong with a dominating 8-3 victory over Al-Rasheed Lucman in the boys under-13 division of the Globe CitiGreen Junior Tennis Cup 2018 yesterday at the Alta Vista Golf and Country Club.

 

The fourth-seed Manito showed that he is serious in claiming the title with an aggressive approach that was too much for Lucman.

Like Manito, Jonathan Largo also scored a dominating victory at the start of the annual tennis tournament after annihilating Philip Mesiona, 8-0, while John Lope Ouano silenced Kin Gabini. Other winner in the boys under-13 was Chad Connor Cuizon.

In the other boys 12 bracket, RB Lataza won against Johanne Lim,8-4,  Adrian Suladay blanked Gerard Morales, 8-0, while Michael Andrei Buyante outsmarted Roman Guangko, 8-5.

Over at CitiGreen Tennis Resort in Barangay Punta Princesa, multi-titled Tiffany Nocos enjoyed a first-round bye in the girls 14 along with Minette Betillo, Jalia Elumba, Katrina Siason, Mia Gemida and Corazon Lambonao.

Kimberly McKenzie and Amalia Ugarte, for their part, also had an easy pass to the next round after their respective opponents didn’t show up.

Yvonne Cuervas, Feb Villar, Kirstem Albofera, Angela Buyante, Canesia Basalan and Joannah Perral also advanced to the next round after winning their first assignments.

Cuervas defeated Cristal Abella, 8-1, Villar routed Victoria Beltrano, 8-2, Albofera clobbered Bernice Reftificar, 8-1, Buyente silenced Andrea Trajano as Perral scored an 8-0 win over Caitlin Go.
