CICS Open chessfest

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu International Chess Society (CICS) Open Tournament unfolds today at Robinson's Galeria Cebu.

Around 70 players from all over Cebu and some out-of-towners will be taking part in the 7-round Swiss system competition sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP).

Aside from earning points for their NCFP ratings, the top finishers will also receive trophies and cash prizes. The champion gets P3,000, while the second to fourth will pocket P2,000, P1,000 and P700, respectively. The fifth to 10th placers will have a consolation prize of P500 apiece.

On the other hand, the top kiddie finishers in the under-10, U12 and U15 age groups will pocket P1,000 each.
