Cebuano lifters sizzlein Hidilyn Diaz Open
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebuano lifters made their presence felt by winning one gold, two silvers and one bronze at the start of the 2nd Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Championships at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
John Febuar Ceniza retained his title in the men’s open 56 kgs. class. He has 105 kgs. in the snatch and 130 kgs. in the clean and jerk for a total haul of 235 kgs.
University of Cebu’s Clark Cuico, who competed on the same weight category as Ceniza, got a silver in the collegiate division.
On the other hand, Mabolo’s Giselle Ann Betua debuted in the event with a silver under the women’s open 53 kgs. division.
The 15-year-old Betua posted a 55 kgs. best in the snatch and 80 kgs. in the clean and jerk for a total of 135 kilograms.
Two more Cebuanos in Elreen Ann Ando and Dexter Tabique are scheduled to compete today.
