FSC launches first ‘Formative Cup’

CEBU, Philippines — The newly-formed Formative Sports Commission launched its first basketball tournament dubbed as ‘Formative Cup 2018’ slated on June 24 at the Formative Academic and Skills Development School campus in Liloan, Cebu.

“We want to give the students exposure to sports as part of their extra-curricular activities. We want them to develop multiple intelligence and not only purely academic,” said Formative School’s owner Lemuel Lapingcao in a press conference yesterday at the said school.

The first season will feature the inter-company and inter-subdivision league.

Lapingcao also emphasized that they made an inter-subdivision instead of an inter-school to avoid conflict with other schools.

“We are not competing with other schools. Instead, we want to establish better relationships with them and hopefully form a stronger team for the District Meet. We want more players from Liloan to be discovered” added Lapingcao.

Cash prizes are at stake for the winners. The inter-company champion will receive P15,000, while the inter-subdivision winner will pocket P10,000. (FREEMAN)
