CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Pink Paddlers dominated the 200-meter cancer survivor open category of the DBS Marina Regatta Singapore Dragon Boat Festival 2018 at the Marina Bay in Singapore yesterday.

The Pink Paddlers, the country's first all-female breast cancer dragon boat team, emerged as fastest group with a time of one minute and six seconds. They bested Breast Cancer Foundation-Paddlers in the Pink (BCF-PIP) Team A (1:10) and Purple Dragons Team A (1:12) who settled for second and third place, respectively.

Cebu Pink Paddlers head coach Christian Ian Sy said their teamwork catapulted them to victory.

"Team work makes the dream work," Sy said.  "The ladies are competing against mixed and open teams from Singapore and Hong Kong but again the Pink Paddlers proved the girl power, the true essence of being a survivor."

"The experience was a mixed of pressure and excitement as this is a new and challenging experience for the team, " Sy added.

After Singapore, the Pink Paddlers will plunge back to training preparatiory for their title defense in Taiwan this October.

"We will train more harder and harder in preparation for Taiwan to defend our title," Sy said.

Another race awaits for the Pink Paddlers in December as they were invited to join in the Penang Malaysia International Dragonboat Festival.
