Catmon grabs third victory in Gov’s Cup

CEBU, Philippines — Home team Catmon lady spikers scored a thrilling four-setter over Liloan for their third victory in the North division quarterfinals of the 2018 Governor's Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Under-18 Developmental Volleyball Tournament yesterday at the Catmon Municipal gym.

Liloan won the opening set, 25-23, but Catmon immediately answered back by securing the second canto, 25-19.

It was a see-saw battle in the third set but Catmon belles were more accurate in their offense resulting into a 25-20 victory.

With the win, Catmon clinched the No.2 seed in its bracket with a 3-1 slate next to division leader Mandaue (3-0).

Meanwhile, Medellin improved its record to 2-2 after an easy win over the winless Tabogon via default.

The North division quarterfinals continues today at the Danao City Civic Center as Danao takes on  Mandaue City while Liloan guns for a crucial win against Tabogon. (FREEMAN)
