TCC dancesport bets shine in HK tilt

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The members of Dancesport-Team Cebu City made the most out of their abilities to grab three golds and a pair of silver medals in the 2016 ADSF Asian Youth Single Dance Championships the other night at the Elizabeth Stadium in Wanchai, Hong Kong.

Interestingly, Andrew Ysla and Noelyn Mie Pedrano caught the spotlight not just once, but thrice.

Ysla and Pedrano reigned supreme in the ADSF Youth 3-dance latin. They topped all three dances - chachacha, rumba and jive to get the gold against Malaysian Yee Chun Tan and Chee Min Tan. Thailand's Akarawit Jaddee and Sataporn Kesormun settled for bronze.

Ysla and Pedrano made their coach Loloi Rendon even happier as they also won two silver medals in the five-dance battle as well as in the paso doble of the Asian single dance championships.

Not to be outdone, real-life sweethearts Wilbert Aunzo and Pearl Cañeda lorded it over in the 16-24 age group of the 5-dance action.

DTCC directress Eleanor Hayco and her dance partner Jimmy Noel also made their presence felt after ruling the senior 3-dance latin.

More than winning honors and establishing camaraderie, part of DTCC's mission in Hong Kong is to promote the WDSF-sanctioned Cebu Open 2016 on September 10 at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino. (FREEMAN)
