-

CEBU, Philippines - The 53rd Army booters prevailed over the Queen City United FC in their closely-fought match, walking away with a razor-thin 3-2 victory via penalty shootout to capture the men’s open title of the 1st JCAD (JC Armamento Development) Arsenal Cup 2010 football tournament the other day at San Roque Parish field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.

It was the second championship for the 53rd Army since securing the men’s open crown during the Aboitiz Football Cup.

In the 36-above category, Erco FC edged out Hiroshi FC, 4-3, also via penalty shootout to take home the champion’s trophy.

The other top winners in the two-day tilt were San Roque FC and Mobel House in the women’s open, Pomeroy FC (Boys 17), Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (Boys 14) and Paref-Springdale (Boys 12).

The event was made possible through the support of Team Arsenal founder Jay Marabur, who is now based in United Kingdom, HDP Printing, Cebu Golf Pacific, Nature’s Spring, Marques Dunoman, Engr. Nilo Ferraren, Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes, and Glenn Bercede. – Marigold P. Lebumfacil   (FREEMAN NEWS)
