CCPO to help clean streets, sidewalks

Romeo D. Marantal - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) will help clean the city’s sidewalks and skywalks.

This after it was observed during the walkthrough with Mayor Michael Rama from Gorordo Avenue to Talamban that there are skywalks that serve as shelters for some street dwellers.

According to Police Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, CCPO director, the mayor saw a lot of dirty things in their walkthrough such as dirty walls. He said some establishments have no proper waste management and have encroached on the boundary.

Dalogdog said they will focus on this problem, especially on cleaning the skywalks from street dwellers as one way to help Rama's Singapore-like Cebu City program.

In fact, they will hold a weekly mural painting as part of the city’s beautification drive with other stakeholders such as fraternities, advisory councils and other sectors.

“Kami pud naningkamot pud mi nga makatabang sa mga programa sa local government unit in fact naa mi weekly nga pagahimoon nga gitawag namo og mural painting kadtong mga vandalism nga makita, among area karon kaning diri sa area sa Gorordo padulong didto sa unahan sa may JY,” said Dalogdog.

He also said that the cooperation of the barangay officials as well as the people is needed to achieve success. — GMR (FREEMAN)
