Quiboloy next SRP investor?

Caecent No-ot Magsumbol - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines —  Will controversial pastor Apollo Quiboloy be the next investor at the South Road Properties?

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama and Quiboloy talked about the possibility of erecting a huge convertible stadium at the South Road Properties via a joint venture.

This was during Quiboloy's one-on-one interview with the mayor at the MSNI studio in Davao City.

In that interview, Rama said that the Cebu City government will not be selling any more lots at the SRP but would rather enter into joint venture agreements with investors.

Rama told the pastor that he had already decided with his team and other party mates that there will be no more selling of properties at the SRP.

Currently, there are joint ventures, direct purchases and some unused and unsold lots at the SRP.

“Ang akong gisulti sa akong mga kauban, di na ta mo-engage into selling. We can probably go into joint venture or whatever set-up,” Rama said.

Rama said he was in awe of Quiboloy’s King's Dome in Davao which has a capacity of 75,000, much bigger than the Philippine Arena of Iglesia ni Kristo  in  Bulacan.

Rama then told Quiboloy in jest to transfer the King's Dome to Cebu City instead, to which the latter said they can talk about it.

Quiboloy told Rama to look for a property to build the world’s biggest stadium. In response,  Rama said the SRP.

Quiboloy and Rama expressed fascination  with the thought of building an at least 150,000-capacity convertible stadium with a retractable roof.

The mayor, who returned to Cebu City yesterday, told The Freeman that he and Quiboloy discussed more about the idea, indicating seriousness on the matter.

However, Rama clarified that these were just initial talks.

“Ato pang tan-awn. Atong ipatawag iyang representative, kay interesado gyud sya nga naa say dome sa Cebu City,” Rama said.

“It’s something to look forward to…mag-invite tag international teams, like Madrid versus London or unsa diha… But wala pa lang kaayo ko mo-dwell, kung unsay better na porma. Kay commit-commit unya di madayon," Rama said.

Rama also got to tour the other projects that Quiboloy has in Davao, which he also hopes to have in Cebu City.

After Quiboloy, Rama also met former President Rodrigo Duterte and Swnator Bong Go, but the he did not elaborate further on what transpired in these meetings.

He only said, "a lot and it was very fruitful”.  – JMD (FREEMAN)
