Woman nabbed, 7 minors rescued in anti-child pornography operation
CEBU, Philippines — A woman was arrested in an anti-child pornography operation in Barangay Luz, Cebu City Wednesday afternoon.
The operation also resulted in the rescue of seven minors—four males and three females--who were allegedly made to participate in a live show and were made to pose naked in front of the camera. The video and photos were allegedly sold by the suspect to foreign customers online.
The Freeman withheld the name of the suspect to protect the identity of the minors—two of whom were her children.
The Police Major Niño Lawrence Ibo of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said they started monitoring the illegal activities of the since 2020. The suspect reportedly stopped at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the activities allegedly resumed recently.
The operation Wednesday was assisted by the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and Department of Justice.— FPL (FREEMAN)
