CEBU, Philippines —  A free public wifi will be available soon in Lapu-Lapu City following the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the city government and Globe Telecom.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan announced on Facebook that free internet connectivity will available in the city’s public areas like the City Hall, Hoopsdome, Opon Plaza or Plaza Rizal, Liberty Shrine, New Bridge Park, and Pajo Public Terminal.

Chan thanked Globe Telecom for helping his administration and the Oponganons.

Meanwhile, Chan led the coordination meeting for the upcoming Megaworld Ironman 70.3 Philippines which the city will again host.

The mayor said that more than 2,000 participants from different parts of the world are expected to join this biggest triathlon (swimming, biking and running) event in the world.

Chan said that he is glad that the international sporting event will be back after a two year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

— FPL (FREEMAN)
