Another bomb threat rocks Hall of Justice
CEBU, Philippines — A bomb threat which was coursed through a text message disrupted temporarily the operations at the Cebu City Hall of Justice in Qimonda Building, North Reclamation Area yesterday.
It was the second bomb threat at the Qimonda in two months.
Aside from the Hall of Justice, the text message also mentioned a supposed bomb at the Cebu City Hall building, Carbon, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
Police received the alarm yesterday at around 1:57 p.m.
Mabolo Police Station chief, Police Major Renz Talosig, said they immediately responded, along with the bomb squad of Cebu City Police Office and the K9 unit.
The Hall of Justice then released a statement saying they had suspended their afternoon working hours from 1:30 p.m to 5 p.m. due to the bomb threat.
At 2 p.m., Talosig said they had cleared the whole building from the threat.
According to him, an employee from Branch 74 and Branch 8 received the threat.
The text message read that there was a bomb threat in Qimonda Building, Cebu City Hall, Carbon, and the CCLEX.
The police also responded to the said areas and placed these under paneling.
“Ongoing pa gihapon wala pa tay saktong detalye nga ikahatag karon pero nadawat nato ang information ana around 1:57 ganina, unya ang kanang eksaktong detalye gyud kung kinsa ang nakadawat sa bomb threat or either naa ray nagpahibawo nga concerned citizen ba,” said Talosig.
“Kay upat man ang iyang gi-mention nga naay bombahon, ang city hall, ang CCLEX ang Carbon market ug Qimonda -- mao nay gi-forward nga atong nadawat,” he added.
This has been the second time that both the Quimonda Building and the Cebu City Hall received a bomb threat.
This first one happened last March of this year. — JMD (FREEMAN)
