17 liquor ban violators nabbed in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines — Police have arrested at least 17 individuals in Cebu Island for violating the liquor ban implemented by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in line with the May 9, 2022 elections.
Police Brigadier General Roque Eduardo Vega, Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 chief, said the number was from midnight of May 8 until 6 a.m. on May 9, 2022.
According to the PRO-7, Bohol scored the most arrest with eight violators. Lapu-Lapu City Police Office also apprehended four liquor ban violators—all from Barangay Marigondon.
There were three violators arrested by the operatives of Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) while one each from Daanbantayan and Minglanilla. No violators were arrested in Cebu City.
Meanwhile, there were 28 individuals attended to by the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) for different medical emergencies in various polling centers across the city.
"We ask for the patience of the general public in asking for an ambulance. Our ambulances have catered to 28 patients as of 11:40AM," said Renzo Del Rosario, CDRRMO head.
