Cebu City to resume aid distribution May 13
CEBU, Philippines — May 13, 2022 – that’s the date when Cebu City government will resume the distribution of financial assistance under its various programs.
According to the Public Information Office of the City Hall, an estimated P116 million in assistance is expected to be released after the elections on May 9, 2022.
Among those to be distributed are aids for victims of Typhoon Odette and fire incidents, beneficiaries of Livelihood of Our Workers (TAPAT), octogenarians, and economic stimulus package beneficiaries.
Some funds will be also devoted for the subsidies for Gender and Development (GAD) and allowances for those hired under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES).
There will also be funds intended for the programs of the City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (COSAP) for rehabilitation, Women and Family Affairs Commission (WFAC) and the Self-Employment Assistance Program (SEAP).
The breakdown is as follows: DSWS – Odette Ayuda (?73,670,000), TAPAT/Barangay Subsidy (?33,333,000), DSWS–Fire Victims (?2,643,000), OSCA Octogenarians (?1,945,000), DSWS–SEAP (?1,865,000), DMDP–SPE (?925,074.32), COSAP–Rehabilitation (?702,440), GAD Grant/Subsidy (?464,000), Cebu City WFAC Program (?445,000), and Economic Stimulus (?245,000).
Mayor Michael Rama said yesterday that he has already put in place the documents needed to make the distribution of aid smoothly.
City Treasurer Marevae Reyes said they will start processing the documents by May 10.
“By Tuesday, May 10, we will start the processing of documents. The funds should be ready by May 13,” Reyes said.
To recall, city officials requested an exemption from the rule that prohibits the release of monetary aid during campaign season. The city has not received an update on such a request to this date.
Reyes assured though that the funds have been allocated and ready for release from some weeks now.
“Andam na man ta, ipadayon ra nato after the election,” she said. — JMD (FREEMAN)
