CCMC nursing students to train at Apple One Visayas Medical Corp
CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City Council has authorized Mayor Michael Rama to enter into and sign a contract affiliation with Apple One Visayas Medical Corporation for the training of the nursing students in the Cebu City Medical Center-College of Nursing (CCMC-CN) in consortium with the Cebu Technological University (CTU).
A resolution on the matter sponsored by Councilor Joel Garganera was recently approved by the council.
“CCMC-CN envisions to provide adequate training and knowledge necessary for patient care and healthcare assessment and further promote a conducive learning environment to the aspiring nurses in the City of Cebu,” said Garganera.
Garganera said it is imperative upon the city to support in the development of the students' clinical skills, practices, and quality patient care.
He added that hands-on training and exposure are some of the requirements needed in the completion of the curriculum under Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Apple One Visayas Medical Center is a duly authorized teaching and training agency of the Department of Health (DOH).
The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requires all nursing students to undergo training with home-based hospital with a Level Ill Accreditation from the DOH.
The City Legal Office also reviewed the draft Contract of Affiliation, stating that the office opines that it conforms to the basic requirements of a written contract.
“The terms and conditions therein are in accordance with law, rules and regulations, and not otherwise contrary to morals, good customs, public order, and public policy,” according to CLO.
Section 22(a)(5) in relation to Section 22(c) of Republic Act. No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991, states that unless otherwise provided in this Code, no contract may be entered into by the local chief executive in behalf of the local government unit without prior authorization by the Sanggunian concerned and a legible copy of such contract shall be posted at a conspicuous place in the provincial capitol or the city, municipal or barangay hall. — FPL (FREEMAN)
