CEBU, Philippines —  The “Tugbong Tabo sa Cebu City Hall” is back with fresh and affordable farm products from 28 upland barangays in the city.

According to City Agriculturist Joey Baclayon, farmers from all of the upland barangays will be given a chance to display their goods at Plaza Sugbo.

For its re-launching, there were 50 farmers that are able to sell their goods where Cebuanos can buy fresh vegetables, fruits, and even ornamental plants.

“This is participated sa mga mag-uuma nga grupo, naa puy grupo nato sa ornamental kun diin ato pud gipa display atubangan tuyok sa atong mga kakahoyan para pag-add pud og beautification sa atong plaza at the same time makabaligya pud sila,” said Baclayon.

It’s been two years since the Tugbong Tabo was canceled due to restrictions of COVID-19 pandemic.

“This is an avenue nga, usa sa mga serbisyo pud nga gihatag nato sa atong mga mag-uuma, nga diin maka-enjoy sila nga makadiretso sila og baligya sa ilahang mga produkto and at the same time maka-income gyud sila,” added Baclayon.

Baclayon assured that the prices of goods displayed at the Tabo are even cheaper than that in Carbon Market.

“Atong gihatagan og free nga transport vehicle para pagdala nila dinhi. So, ato sad masiguro nga ang ilahang presyo lahi, dili pareha sa Carbon Market. Mas cheaper ni sila,” said Baclayon.

The “Tugbong Tabo sa Cebu City Hall” will now be open every Thursday and Friday.

Along with the re-launch of the Tugbong Tabo, Vice Mayor Donaldo Hontiveros also announced that the city government is pushing through its plan of putting up a “food terminal” at the South Road Properties.

Hontiveros said the food terminal will be very helpful to both farmers and consumers as they will no longer have a “middleman”. — Decemay P. Padilla, GMR (FREEMAN)
