CCPO files murder charges against Buscaino’s killer

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cebu City Police Office has filed the murder charges against the identified gunman of Richard Buscaino who was ambushed along Tres de Abril, Barangay Calamba, Cebu City on October 8, 2021.

Buscaino was a former Calamba councilman and chapter president of Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity.

Lt. Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer at CCPO, said that they filed the murder charges last week after the witnesses positively identified the suspect.

“Unfortunately I cannot tell you kung kinsay pangan aning mao nga gunman, because what we also want to uncover og unsa gyuy istorya sa iyang kamatayon, unsay istorya nganong gipatay siya,” said Macatangay in an interview Tuesday.

She added that this could only be answered once the identified gunman is arrested.

Macatangay also said that they haven’t identified yet the cohort of the suspect, who drove the getaway vehicle.

“We have the evidence already and these are good pieces of evidence that we have submitted before the court,” said Macatangay.

The suspect was allegedly caught removing the facemask for a short-while around the area where the crime was committed.

“To the surprise of those who were around pagkahitabo and when gipakita sila sa video, gipakita sila sa rogue’s gallery sa PNP, katong mga nadakpan before, witness was able to identify the suspect bisan unsaon nato og hatag niya og pictures, mao juy iyang itudlo,” said Macatangay.

Currently, the CCPO is just waiting for the warrant of arrest that will be issued by the court and assured that authorities will immediately serve this against the pointed suspect.

During their investigation, the suspect was involved in another offense before.

Macatangay, however, said that they are yet to determine if there is another mastermind behind the suspect.

Buscaino was ambushed by an alleged riding-in-tandem while the vehicle he was boarding was parked along Tres de Abril, Barangay Calamba. — GMR (FREEMAN)
