CEBU, Philippines —  Cebu City has breached the one-million mark in total COVID-19 vaccine doses administered with 1.066 million shots already given since the start of its vaccination rollout.

Of the total doses administered, 623,168 were first doses and 440,416 second doses, according to the report of the Visayas Vaccination Operations Center spokesperson Dr. Mary Jean Loreche.

The National Vaccination Days made a big impact for Cebu City as the city was able to administer a total of 104,248 in just three days, most of which were first doses.

Of this number, 73.95 percent or 1.615 million have received first dose while 51.90 percent or 1.133 million individuals are now fully vaccinated.

Among the LGUs in Central Visayas monitored by the DOH, Lapu-Lapu City emerged as the top performer in jabs administered in the three-day national vaccination drive as it exceeded its vaccination target by over 22%.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard "Ahong" Chan, in a statement, said he was thankful to all the Oponganons for their patience and effort to get back into our normal lives.

“Before celebrating the birth of our Savior, we believe that 80% of the total population ma-hit nga vaccinated na ang mga Oponganon. We are hoping that we can bounce back our tourism industry, bounce back the economy in the city,” Chan said.

“Thankful kaayo sa tanan nga Oponganon nga nagpabakuna. Hinaot nga magpadayon sila sa ilahang kooperasyon sa lokal nga kagamhanan. magpasalamat sab ko sa labaw'ng makagagahum ug sa mahal sa Birhen sa Regla,” he added.

The city surpassed its 9,746 daily target by an average of 22.18 percent. City vaccinators jabbed an average of 11,907 individuals daily over the course of the three-day vaccination push.

“This is a testament that many Oponganons have now realized the importance of vaccines, for us to regain the life that we once had,” city vaccination czar Atty. James Allan Sayson said.

Sayson added that the city’s local vaccination operations center (LVOC) will continue to strive hard until the last vaccine in its inventory is given.
