Authorities identified the victim as Jimmy Hernandez of Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, who sustained a gunshot wound to his head.

CEBU, Philippines —  Investigators of Minglanilla Police Station are now eyeing personal grudge as the possible motive behind the killing of a Mandaue City businessman who was shot dead along the highway of Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla town past 5 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021.

Authorities identified the victim as Jimmy Hernandez of Barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City, who sustained a gunshot wound to his head.

According to Police Master Sergeant Junyl Ater of the Minglanilla Police Station, Hernandez was rushed to the hospital but the attending physician declared him dead on arrival.

Based on initial investigation of the police, Hernandez was shot by two men riding in tandem.

The victim, who was with his wife and helper, was driving his car on his way home to Mandaue City from Moalboal town in southern Cebu when he was shot near the church in Barangay Lipata in Minglanilla town at around 5:20 p.m.

Ater said they were considering personal grudge as a motive behind the killing, saying the victim allegedly had personal disputes over a property prior to the shooting incident.

However, Ater said that they were not discounting other motives behind the murder.

The gunmen then quickly fled the area after shooting the victim.

Currently, Ater said that they are trying to find more security cameras or CCTVs in the area that might give them a clue on who the gunmen were.

He said that a video footage they had only showed the assailants tailing the victim’s car, which proved that the suspects had been tailing the victim for quite a while. — GMR (FREEMAN)
