Motorists given 72 hours to settle traffic violations
The CCTO reminded those issued with citation tickets to resolve violations immediately as not to face legal charges.

CEBU, Philippines —  The legal section of the Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) has already filed at least 61 cases related to “unsettled” traffic violations for the month of October.

The CCTO reminded those issued with citation tickets to resolve violations immediately as not to face legal charges.

"We are only giving 72 hours to settle your violations," the CCTO advisory said.

CCTO disclosed that for October, they were able to issue 11,073 citation tickets, much higher than that of September at 9,612.

The CCTO said it was very important to follow the traffic rule.

“Driving is a privilege and not a right,” CCTO emphasized.

Also, CCTO continues doing surprise operations to ensure that all traffic rules are being followed and following some complaints received in their office and through social media.

Meanwhile, several months since the launch of bike lanes and promotion of active transport, CCTO lamented that many motorists are still disregarding bike lane signs.

“Daghan pa jud ang wala kasabot aning agianan sa mga bisiklita o Bike Lanes,” a post from the Sugbo Bike Lanes Board read.

SBLB noted that bike lanes are still being utilized as parking areas for some amidst all the reminders.

“Nabatasan na jud ni sa mga driver nga mo-obstruct, parking ug violate sa traffic signage ug atong mga Bike Lanes sa mga kadalanan sa atong Siyudad sa Sugbo maski klaro kaayo ang ‘No Parking, Bike Lane’".

With this, the CCTO is now assisting SBLB Bike patrollers in clearing obstructions along bike lanes.

Under City Ordinance 2408, Section 8 (a) "no person shall obstruct along the Sugbo Bike Lanes.” — Sanden Anadia, KQD (FREEMAN)
